Brian Sarber Earns ASC Defensive Player of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore goalkeeper Brian Sarber has been named American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

<#IMAGE:1#>The 6-5, 230-pound native of Allen, Texas, recorded back-to-back shutouts with a combined 12 saves to propel the Eagles to a No. 2 seeding in the ASC Championship Tournament. He batted off seven shots in a 1-0 win over LeTourneau on Friday, including an impressive diving stop in the 65th minute. Sarber turned around on Saturday and held East Texas Baptist scoreless for only the third time this season. For the season, he owns a league-best 1.00 goals against average and has recorded four shutouts, third-best in the ASC. A graduate of Allen High School, Sarber was an All-ASC second team pick last season. Ozarks owns a 13-5-1 overall record and a 10-3-0 ASC record. The Eagles made the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season and will face the winner of the Hardin-Simmons/Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, November 4.
