Clarksville, Ark.-Sophomore goalkeeper Brian Sarber has been named American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
<#IMAGE:1#>Sarber, a 6-5, 230-pound native of Allen, Texas, helped the Eagles secure two shutouts last week with his solid play in goal. The Eagles finished with a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Hendrix College on September 6 and a 5-0 win over Bacone College on September 9. Sarber played every minute against Hendrix and had six saves, including a penalty kick stop in the first overtime. Sarber, who owns a 0.26 goals against average this season, stopped six shots in 70 minutes against Bacone. Sarber has been a key component to the Eagles’ success this season as he has already tallied two shutouts and allowed just one goal in four starts. Ozarks owns a 2-1-1 overall record. Sarber was an All-ASC second team pick last season after leading the conference in goals against average (0.82) and saves percentage (.874). He is a graduate of Allen High School. Ozarks will open American Southwest Conference play this weekend when they travel to Tyler, Texas, to face UT-Tyler on September 15. The Eagles will then head to Austin, Texas, to face Concordia-Austin on September 16.
