Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore point guard Brent Johnson (Ozark, Ark.) was named American Southwest Conference Player of the Week following his performance in two conference road games.
Johnson, 6-1, averaged 22.0 points, 5 rebounds and made 56% (13-of-23) of his shots from the field as the Eagles moved into sole possession of first place in the East division. In his first collegiate start, Johnson led the Eagles to a 92-85 win over East Texas Baptist University. He scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Against LeTourneau University, Johnson scored a career high 28 points in just 26 minutes of play. He nailed 4 of 6 three-pointers and had two thunderous dunks in the 86-73 victory. The Eagles are currently 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the ASC East division. He is a 2000 graduate of Ozark High School where he was an All-State player his senior season.
