Big First Half Propels Hardin-Simmons Women

Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles had a tough time against Hardin-Simmons University Saturday afternoon as the Cowgirls jumped out to a big first half lead and finished the game with a 83-65 American Southwest Conference win.

The Cowgirls (5-1, 3-1 ASC) owned a 50-26 halftime lead. Hardin-Simmons held a 23-8 lead at the 12:21 mark of the first half, and then built a 36-12 advantage with 7:37 left. Ozarks (6-2, 2-2 ASC) opened the second half with a 20-7 run to trim the deficit to 59-46. Ozarks later cut the lead to 12-points with 6:07 remaining, but couldn’t get any closer.

Ozarks went 11-for-11 from the free throw line in the second half to fuel a second half in which the Lady Eagles outscored Hardin-Simmons 39-33. But Hardin-Simmons owned a 44-31 rebound advantage in the game.

Sabrina Goddard finished with 24 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Chelsea Glasscock had 11 points and April Young added 10 points.

Ozarks will host Schreiner University December 7.
