RICHARDSON, Texas --- Concordia Texas, Hardin-Simmons, LeTourneau, McMurry, Mississippi College, Ozarks, Schreiner, Texas-Dallas, Texas-Tyler and Texas Lutheran are all winners of American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards for 2011-12 winter and 2012 spring sports, the conference office announced on Wednesday (May 16).

The award, in its fifth academic year, honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAACs) from the conference’s 16 member institutions vote on the recipients.

In basketball, the SAAC team sportsmanship award winners were Schreiner (West Division) and Texas-Dallas (East Division) for the men. On the women’s side, Concordia Texas was honored in the West, while Mississippi College and Ozarks shared the top sportsmanship title in the East.

Ozarks (East) and Concordia Texas (West) were team sportsmanship winners in baseball, while Texas-Tyler (East) and Hardin-Simmons (West) took the honor in softball. In golf, Texas Lutheran’s men’s team and McMurry’s women’s squad were selected. On the tennis courts, LeTourneau swept both the men’s and women’s East awards. The McMurry men and the Schreiner women were named top sportsmanship teams on the West side. For track and field, it was Texas-Tyler’s men’s team and Concordia Texas’ women’s squad that were honored.

The next SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards will be named after the 2012 fall season.
