Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O baseball team split at the Hendrix Classic held on October 6 and October 7 in Conway.

The Eagles defeated Central Baptist College 4-1 in Saturday’s game, but dropped a game against Hendrix College 3-4 on Sunday. Ozarks was one of seven teams to participate in the three-day tournament. Junior pitcher Justin Dixon threw four innings and stuck out five to earn the win against CBC. The 6-4 right-hander from Plumerville had no earned runs as well. Senior infielder Cody Gebhart went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and recorded a stolen base in the victory. Freshman catcher Clint Phifer went one-for-two and added one RBI and a stolen base. "I was really pleased with the pitching of Justin Dixon and James Seymour in the tournament," said first year head coach Jimmy Clark. "They both pitched very well and Clint Phifer and Cody Gebhart hit the ball real well. We need to make some improvements on defense, but our goal for the Fall is to make improvements every game and we have done that. If we continue to work hard and improve, we have a chance to be pretty good." Against Hendrix College, Seymour pitched 3 ? innings and struck out five batters. Phifer had two hits and scored one run. Junior Matt Hebert and senior Shawn Adams each had a hit and a RBI. The Eagles will play an intersquad scrimmage on Saturday, October 13 at 1:00 p.m.
