Richardson, Texas-A trio of Texas-Dallas pitchers combined for a five-hitter and a shutout to lead the Comets past the Eagles 9-0 Sunday in American Southwest Conference play.
Texas-Dallas starter Derek Dallas (3-2) struck out eight in seven innings of work and the Comets (9-8, 1-0 ASC) bullpen was effective as it did not allow a hit in the final two frames. Texas-Dallas scored one run in the first, second and third innings, and then added three more in the fourth to hold a 6-0 advantage. The Eagles (6-8, 0-1 ASC) managed just two hits through five innings of play against the Texas-Dallas starter. The Comets put the game out of reach in the sixth after scoring twice more for a 8-0 lead.
Jeffrey Works (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season. He went five innings.
Jonathan Cox paced Ozarks at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance.
The series will conclude tomorrow with a double-header starting at 12:00 p.m.
