Baseball Team Gets 5-1 Friday Night Win

Pineville, La.-Three Ozarks? pitchers allowed just one run and eight hits and four different Eagles drove in a run as Ozarks took a 5-1 win against Louisiana College Friday night.

The win pushed Ozarks record to 11-21 overall and 3-10 in the American Southwest Conference, while the loss dropped Louisiana College to 13-18 overall and 6-7 in the ASC.

Ozarks’ starter Jeffery Works went two and one-third innings, but Rodger Montano (1-2) lasted three and two-third innings out of the bullpen to receive the win. Ian Bryan then closed out the game with three scoreless innings to notch the save. Ozarks led 1-0 after the second on Peyton Johnigan’s RBI single, but Louisiana College evened the score in the third. Montano settled in and cruised to the sixth before being replaced by Bryan in the seventh. Montano’s line was impressive as he allowed just one hit while striking out four. In the fifth, Nick Brill drove in the go-ahead run with a single. Ozarks brought in two more runs in the sixth on a Zac Mitchell sacrifice fly out and a Chris Driedric RBI single. Tony Morales gave Ozarks its final run with another RBI single in the seventh. Bryan then faced four batters in the seventh and eighth and retired the side in the bottom of the ninth. Bryan did not issue a walk in three innings of work.

Michael Prusator finished 3-for-4 to pace Ozarks 12-hit attack.

Ozarks will conclude its series against Louisiana College tomorrow in a double-header beginning at 12:00 p.m.
