Clarksville, Ark.-Texas-Dallas' Chris Barnes scored 33 points to lead the Comets to a 87-83 victory over the Eagles Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

It was the sixth straight loss for the Eagles (3-8, 1-6 ASC), who have lost three of those games by just four points. The Eagles held a 39-36 halftime lead behind 11 points from Shawn Curtis and nine points from Kasey Lewis. But Barnes proved difficult to stop all night, pumping in 16 points in the first half to keep the Comets (7-2, 5-2 ASC) in the game. The second half went back-and-forth, but Texas-Dallas eventually settled in on a 66-60 advantage with 10:21 remaining in the game. Ozarks fought back to tie the contest, 69-69, on Marcus Bobb’s pair of free throws. Dustin Morett drilled two three-pointers over a three-minute stretch to put Ozarks ahead 81-80 with 2:33 left. Bobb put in both of his free throw attempts with 1:43 left to help the Eagles gain a 83-81 lead. But Ozarks wouldn’t score again, and Texas-Dallas hit 4-of-6 free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Ozarks dominated the boards, holding a 42-24 edge, but it didn’t matter as the Eagles committed 20 turnovers. Texas-Dallas hit 13 three-pointers in the game and only committed eight miscues.

Five players reached double figures for Ozarks, with Curtis scoring a team-high 23 points. Lewis recorded a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds). Andre Williams added 13 points, and Bobb and Morett each had 10 points. Williams dished out 10 assists.

Ozarks will travel to Springdale to face Ecclesia College January 3.
