Clarksville, Ark. --- Arkansas' only professional touring ballet company, Ballet Arkansas, will perform at University of the Ozarks at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, as part of the university's 2010 Walton Arts & Ideas Series.
The performance will be held in the Walton Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased on the evening of the performance or in advance by calling 979-1346.
Founded in 1978, Ballet Arkansas is committed to presenting ballet and dance to audiences throughout the state. The Little Rock-based dance company has achieved many accomplishments throughout the years, including performing with Cynthia Gregory, bringing Mikhail Baryshnikov to Little Rock, and receiving the "Stream Award" from the Southwestern Regional Ballet Association Festival.
Led by Artistic Director Arleen Sugano, the company’s repertoire ranges from classical to neoclassical to contemporary, and captures the attention of audiences of all ages. A renowned performer, choreographer, teacher, and director, Sugano has taught at the Joffrey Ballet School (American Ballet Center) in New York City; Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle, Penn.; Lula Washington Dance Academy/Company in Los Angeles; and the University of North Texas at Denton.
