Clarksville, Ark. --- The Arkansas Jazz Orchestra will present a concert at University of the Ozarks at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, as part of the university's 2009-2010 Walton Arts & Ideas Series.

Tickets for the concert are $10 each and can be purchased by calling 479-979-1346. The concert will take place in the Walton Fine Arts Center on the U of O campus in Clarksville.

According to the group’s Web site, the 18-member Arkansas Jazz Orchestra is “ready to give you a concert that will have you on the edge of your seat. Drawing music from some of the great jazz names of yesteryear (such as Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Herman, Rich and many others), this group will mesmerize you with their musical skills, and then knock your socks off with their passion and enthusiasm for sharing great jazz.”

The orchestra includes trombonist and leader Harvey Haley, woodwind artist Earl Hesse, jazz trumpeter Conrad Wilson, pianist Billy Hoover and vocalist Shirley Chauvin.
