Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks freshman forward Alex Cannon was named the American Southwest Conference women?s soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
The 5-foot-7 Chattanooga, Tenn., product recorded a hat trick in her first collegiate game to lead the Lady Eagles to a 3-1 win over Central Baptist College September 1. Cannon netted her first goal in the 4th minute on a left-footed rocket shot from 35 yards out. She then blasted one in from 40 yards out in the 23rd minute. Cannon completed the hat trick when she connected on another shot in the 89th minute. She added another goal against Central Methodist University September 4. For the week, Cannon had ten shots, six of which were on frame.
Cannon was named to the All-State, All-Star and All-City Team as a senior and helped Baylor High School to a state championship.
Ozarks (1-2-0) will host NCAA I UA-Pine Bluff Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
