Grounds Foreman Eddie Wood will retire at the end of July after a 20-year career with the University of the Ozarks.

Wood started at the University as a grounds helper in March of 2003 and was promoted to grounds foreman in February of 2004. His last day at Ozarks is scheduled for July 26.

“It’s been a good 20 years,” Wood said. “I’ve seen a lot of changes and have had the opportunity to work with a lot of good students and staff. I’m glad I had the chance to work at Ozarks.”

Donny Frost, director of facilities, praised Wood’s dependability and the pride he took in keeping  the campus looking sharp.

“Eddie viewed the Ozarks campus as his own and he worked hard to keep it beautiful as well as safe and enjoyable for students, faculty and visitors,” Frost said. “We constantly hear about how beautiful our campus is and Eddie has played a major role in that. He considers the campus as a reflection of himself and he always took pride in making it looks its best. He will be heavily missed.”

Wood and his wife, Glenda, who works in housekeeping for the University, celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on May 25.
