#1 Texas-Tyler Downs Lady Eagles

Clarksville, Ark.- No. 1 ranked Texas-Tyler took a 16-5 win in game one and a 15-3 win in game two as the Patriots swept the Lady Eagles in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday.

Texas-Tyler, recently ranked No.1 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA III poll, held a 6-0 lead after three, and then scored six more behind a grand slam home run in the fourth to make it 12-0. Ozarks (7-5, 2-4) fought back to score five runs from three hits in the bottom of the fourth. Nicole Ashley knocked in Sarah Otteman for the first run. Ashley Roberts doubled in Danielle Dirks and Cassie Saorrono then singled in a pair of runs to cut it to 12-5. After two scoreless innings, the Patriots (20-0, 4-0) added four more runs in the top of the seventh.

Brittany Thompson (5-1) took the loss. Five different players had one hit for Ozarks.

In game two, the Patriots jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first. Ozarks rallied for three runs in the bottom of the third inning to put the score at 7-3. Dirks, Kaitlyn Poirier and Stacy Simpson each had RBI in the frame. The Patriots got all three runs back the next inning, and then added five more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Stephany Henson (2-4) received the loss.

Poirier finished 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Ozarks will travel to Conway to face Hendrix College on March 25.
