History/Background

Beginning in 2021, an impactful initiative unfolded! The Student Loan Guarantee Foundation of Arkansas carefully selected universities across the state to participate in a completion program. The mission? To fund scholarships for students who, at some point, pressed pause on their education and now seek financial support to resume and complete their studies.The SLGFA is a beacon of educational support deeply rooted in the commitment to empowering students in the Natural State. As part of our enduring dedication to accessible education, SLGFA represents an opportunity for Arkansans to pursue their academic dreams with financial assistance that paves the way to graduation.

Benefits

Tailored for Arkansans, SLGFA serves as a strategic ally in your academic journey by providing vital financial support leading to graduation. The Foundation will provide up to four (4) $10,000 scholarships for Ozarks students in the 2025-2026 academic year – $5,000 per semester. It’s not just support; it’s an investment in your educational success.

Eligibility

This initiative is exclusively crafted for residents of Arkansas who are eager to resume and complete their college education.

Out of school for at least 12 months prior to the start of the Fall 2025 term
U.S. citizen
Arkansas resident
Seeking your first baccalaureate degree
Within 30 credit hours of graduation
2.5 or higher cumulative college GPA
Admitted as a degree seeking transfer or readmit student for Fall 2025
Enrolled at University of the Ozarks as a full-time undergraduate student for Fall 2025
Able to detail the extenuating circumstances which caused you to cease attendance

While our ideal scenario is your graduation by the end of the academic year, we acknowledge life’s uncertainties. Successfully completing the Fall 2025 term and meeting ongoing scholarship requirements opens the door to a renewed scholarship for the Spring 2026 term. It’s a commitment to your success and a recognition of the evolving nature of educational journeys.

SLGFA Scholarship Application

This application is for undergraduate students who are Arkansas residents and who have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students must not have attended courses for at least one year immediately prior to this application and be within 30 hours of graduating with their first baccalaureate degree.
Application deadline for fall term is August 1.
