I joined the University of the Ozarks in Fall 2023. Prior to this, I served at Arkansas Tech University from 2008 onward, where I held dual roles as Instructor of Mathematics and Statistics and Program Director of Remedial and General Education Mathematics. I earned both a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and a master’s degree in statistics from the University of Arkansas.
Before my time at ATU, I taught at Northwest Arkansas Community College and the University of Arkansas, and later worked at the Wal-Mart Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas, where I served as a team manager, statistician, and programmer.
At ATU, I was responsible for hiring and managing the department’s student workers, including tutors and graders. I also managed the partner high schools across the state for mathematics concurrent enrollment programs. My work in curriculum development for the department included leading course redesigns, obtaining teaching certifications for online courses, and developing and instructing online, hybrid, and hyflex courses in mathematics and statistics. I also led assessment efforts for general education mathematics courses.
My scholarship includes two journal publications: “Digital Distraction Outside the Classroom: An Empirical Study” in the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges and “Ideas in Practice: A Modified FOCUS Model” in the Journal of Developmental Education. I was awarded two Complete College America (CCA) grants and played a leading role in the Dana Center’s Math Pathways Initiative and the Gateway to Completion project through the John Gardner Institute.
Recently, I have authored instructional technology manuals for R and designed interactive Excel-based learning activities for McGraw Hill. I also serve as a Digital Faculty Consultant, delivering webinars and providing support to institutions seeking to integrate R and Excel into statistics instruction.
A long-time resident of Clarksville, I deeply value the University of the Ozarks’ impact on our local and global communities. Outside of academia, I enjoy traveling, hiking, kayaking, and exploring coffee cultures around the world. I’m proud to be part of this great university.
