Katrina Twitty

Assistant Professor of Music

Katrina Twitty

Originally from Northwest Arkansas, I have been a music teacher in higher education for over 20 years as a private voice and piano instructor, lecturer, choir director, vocal/instrumental ensemble conductor and performance coach, musical director, opera scenes director, composer, arranger, choreographer and collaborative pianist/accompanist.  As a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), my students have been awarded assistantships and scholarships to national and international university music programs, principal roles in both school and community production companies and high honors in national vocal competitions.  In addition to teaching at Ozarks, I currently serve as choirmaster, principal pianist and vocalist as Director of Music Ministry at Bland Chapel Global Methodist Church in Rogers, AR, previously serving on the music faculties of Crowder College, John Brown University, University of Denver Lamont School of Music, Valor Christian High School, Red Rocks Community College and Arapahoe Community College Department of Music of Denver, Colorado.

As a soprano, my singing and stage performance experience spans over 30 years, performing both regionally and internationally, including Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Cunegonde in Candide, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, Mrs. Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Marsinah in Kismet, Musetta in La Bohème and Lucy in The Telephone and most recently in the Adult Contemporary genre in my debut EP, Blue Notes.  I performed with the Passaggio Opera Company of Denver, Opera of the Ozarks, Utah Festival Opera, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Chamber Music Society of Greater Denver and the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy, and placed as a Finalist in both the 2004 and 2007 Rocky Mountain Region Metropolitan Opera Auditions and Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition.  I hold both a Bachelor and Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and the University of Denver, Lamont School of Music, respectively.

My greatest passion and ongoing, professional research and performance, both as a music educator and active musician, are always rooted in creating life-reflecting experiences, guiding and inspiring all students (and audiences) of music to discover, appreciate and develop his or her own unique “voice,” personal enrichment and performance toward becoming leaders, teachers and advocates in the music and arts community— at Ozarks, and beyond.
