U of O to host political satire performance

Clarksville, Ark. --- The comedy revue Chicago City Limits will present its political satire show One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, at the University of the Ozarks as part of the university's 2008-2009 Walton Arts & Ideas Series.

The event will be held in the Walton Fine Arts Center on the U of O campus. Tickets for the performance are $10 each and can be purchased at the box office on the evening of the performance or by calling 479-979-1346.

Chicago City Limits is New York’s longest-running comedy revue, thrilling audiences for more than 25 years with its unique style of improvisational comedy.

CCL’s new release states: "Whether your heart bleeds red or blue, Chicago City Limits has the cure with its hilarious political satire comedy show. This special production, new for this fall, goes head-to-head with the faces, places, and events that will shape the 2008 presidential election in a performance that combines the very best in sketch comedy, musical theatre, and audience participation improvisation. Take shelter from the political storm brewing in the real world and enjoy this hilarious portrayal of the carnage of the campaign trail."

Founded in 1977 in Chicago by George Todisco and actors participating in the workshop program at The Second City, CCL relocated to New York in 1979. It established its own theater in the summer of 1980 and began a continuous run that has surpassed 8,500 performances.

CCL has made numerous TV appearances, including, Comedy Central, and PBS.
