Clinton, Miss.-It was a tough shooting day for the Lady Eagles in their 59-50 loss to Mississippi College in American Southwest Conference play.
The Lady Eagles (8-9, 6-8 ASC) trailed 26-16 after hitting just 6-of-30 (20%) from the field in the first half. Nonetheless, Sabrina Goddard’s inside shot with 8:09 remaining gave Ozarks a 14-13 advantage. But Mississippi College (10-6, 8-4 ASC) finished out the half with a 13-2 run.
Ozarks went scoreless for the first six minutes of the second half, and by that time it trailed 37-18. But Ozarks surged on a 22-10 run over the next minutes to trim the deficit to 47-40 with 5:18 left. The Lady Choctaws, however, hit 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the final 1:14 to secure the game.
Ozarks hit below 40 percent from the field in the second half and ended the contest making 29 percent of their shots from the floor.
Goddard led Ozarks with 23 points.
Ozarks will travel to East Texas Baptist January 26.
