Ozarks Drops Rolla Contest, Defeat HSU

The Eagles lost a hard fought 86-71 match-up against NCAA II University of Missouri-Rolla on November 25, but came back big with a 90-71 victory over Hardin-Simmons on Saturday.

The Eagles trailed only 42-41at half time against Missouri-Rolla, but were outscored 44-30 in the second half and shot only 18 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Eagles, however, shot 85 percent from the free throw line in the game, including hitting 18 of 20 in the second half. Senior forward Michael Bollman led Ozarks with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Mandrell Howell had 15 points and guards Ricky Johnson and Josh Joyner each had 11 points. Freshman guard Scott McCall scored 10 points. The Eagles matched their season high of 90 points against Hardin Simmons University on November 30. The Eagles had four players in double figures, led by Bollman’s 17 points. Bollman has scored in double figures in all of the Eagles’ games this season. The Eagles shot 66 percent from the field in the first half, including nailing six of 14 three-pointers, to hold a 42-33 lead at intermission. Ozarks hit 12 of 27 from the three-point line in the game. Ricky Johnson and sophomore guard V.J. Akers each contributed 14 points. Howell had 13 points.
