KUOZ 100.5FM LP

In May 2018, University of Ozarks radio station KUOZ 100.5FM LP celebrated fifteen years on the air! For over a decade and a half, this station has provided the campus and community with a wide array of programming of every sort, everything from music (jazz, big band, rock, country, and gospel, plus more) to news, as well as original student programming.

The station is a six-time Intercollegiate Broadcasting System award-winner, and an affiliate of The Mayo Clinic Radio and Ozark Highlands Radio.

In addition to broadcasting the traditional AM/FM signal, many radio stations now stream their content online, and KUOZ has taken the first steps to test that capability.

Sunday Stories: Thanks to Ozarks, Matthew Kremers’ professional goals are coming into focus. The junior communications major from Subiaco, Arkansas, is already putting his degree to use as an accomplished storyteller through his photography & videography skills. “I got started with the camera when I was in high school,” he said. “I spent a summer digging ditches and had no idea what to do with my extra money.” Matthew realized that the area of Arkansas he lived in needed someone who was really good with a camera, so that’s what he purchased. “I started off really small, just doing AAU tournaments and I found some success, which made it easy to keep going.” Matthew works on a variety of projects, from keepsake memories to highlight videos for kids being recruited. Matthew said his dream is to one day not have to work and to manage people working for him covering all types of sports throughout the Southwest and Midwest. Matthew credits two of his professors for helping him hone his skills at Ozarks. He called Communications Professor Susan Edens a “technical wizard.” “She helps me with things that I glance over because I am self-taught,” he said. “She helps me re-learn things the right way to help me improve my craft.” He also credited Photography Professor Margo Duvall. “She knows a lot about photography and is well versed in that field and has been able to help me a lot since I started on my own,” he said. “Both of these professors are the reason I have developed my skills to where they are today.” Besides professors, his friends have also supported him. “They helped build my confidence into who I am today,” he said. Originally coming to Ozarks to play basketball, Matthew said he stayed because of the small classroom environment, the teachers and staff and the University’s familiarity. “I knew it was a place where I could grow and succeed,” he said. Matthew’s media company @stixx.media has grown and succeeded in step with him through his journey here at Ozarks.
