Marketing is an exciting field as it is constantly changing and evolving. Most assume that Marketing is advertising, but it is much more. At its core, marketing focuses on relationships, knows customers and what they want, and meets customers’ needs while adapting to changing environments.

Marketers can be creative or analytical, so you’ll find your marketing niche if you like creating stories or crunching numbers. Creative marketers are finding jobs in social media, product design and development, content marketing, and digital marketing. Analytical marketers enjoy marketing analysis, digital strategy, and search engine optimization.

A marketer may be involved in fundraising, product purchasing (buyer), managing events, writing copy (brochures), buying media, generating public relations content, selling merchandise, conducting market research, or running their own business. Every organization needs Marketing, including governments, for-profit, and non-profit organizations, so job opportunities abound.

To ensure you are prepared for any Marketing job, our Marketing program focuses on the basics of Marketing, the 4P’s: product, place, price, and promotion. I encourage Marketing majors to pick complementary minors that suit their interests and passions. A creative marketer may enjoy learning more about Art or Theatre, while an analytical marketer pursues Data Analytics. Become a Super-Marketer and do both!
