Star LaGrone

Instructor of Health Science

Cheyenne (Star) Lowrey-LaGrone

I started out college with an interest in everything and an excitement for learning. After changing my major more times than I would like to admit, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology; minors in biology, sociology, social work, human development and family science, and gender studies; a certificate in child advocacy studies; and as a licensed emergency medical technician. Throughout this time, I worked as a CNA and EMT, gaining valuable healthcare experience along the way. Immediately upon graduation, I moved up in my company to work as an RN, started in a Master of Science in Nursing program, and began teaching as an adjunct faculty for UAFS. I completed my MSN in May of 2022 and began teaching for Ozarks in August. I enjoy being a part of the Ozarks community, and I am continuing my schooling in a PhD program began in May. I consider myself a lifelong learner and strive to instill the same love of learning in my student.

Special Projects/Initiatives

I am currently in school to get my PhD in Health Science at Liberty University. I will have all but dissertation completed at the end of the year, and I am looking forward to getting involved in research with that. I do not currently have any research projects that are ongoing. The link to my undergraduate honors paper, “Nurses’ Attitudes Toward Physician- Assisted Suicide”, can be found at https://scholarworks.uark.edu/nursuht/124/. The independent study for my MSN thesis is not available online, but it is titled Competency-Based Nursing Education as a Means to Prepare Nurses for the Workforce.
