May is the month full of celebrations, recognition

May is the month full of celebrations, recognitions, studies, finals, and, of course, new memories. This year has been no different. To all of our students, as you travel home for summer, be safe and enjoy your break.

To the Class of 2025, we cannot wait to celebrate you this weekend! As a reminder to friends and family, our Baccalaureate Service will begin at 4 PM, tomorrow, May 16th in the Munger-Wilson Chapel. Immediately following, at approximately 5:30 PM, will be the Senior Brick Ceremony beginning in the RCC. On Saturday, May 17th, at 9 AM we will host the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2025 on the campus mall.

We hope to see you all as we continue our end of year celebrations this weekend!

For those who are unable to attend in person, the Commencement Ceremony will be shared live via @KUOZ’s YouTube channel the morning of the event.

Sunday Stories: Aletheia Jolly has been an involve

Sunday Stories: Aletheia Jolly has been an involved and hardworking student throughout her time here at Ozarks.

She is the event coordinator for the Caribbean Student Union, a co-founder of the She Ignites club, an organization dedicated to women’s empowerment, and has held numerous work-study positions. She is also a first-generation college student and will graduate May 17, 2025!

“I have worked in every single building on campus,” Aletheia said.

Because of her involvement in so many different work-study positions, she found it interesting to see the “behind-the-scenes” of the University. “You really don’t know how much work goes into making Ozarks, Ozarks,” she said. “I definitely got a diverse perspective.”

Aletheia works these positions to help pay for her tuition, but as a Finance major, she has also gained some insight into the business field.

“I do want to become an entrepreneur one day,” she said, “It’s great to have marketing, finance, and philosophy because those all pair really well together.”

However, to fulfill her degree requirements, Aletheia needed a minor in another LENS, so she decided on philosophy. “Honestly, if it wasn’t for the LENS program, I would have never chosen to take philosophy,” Aletheia said. However, much to her surprise, “I took one class and it was really interesting!” Her biggest takeaway from this minor was, “It makes you question everything– I even question the questions,” she said.

When asked, ‘What is your favorite thing about Ozarks?’ she replied, “Definitely the people.” She found the faculty and staff to be helpful far beyond the classroom; “I can ask [my professors] about job advice, or how to prepare for life after college,” she said. “To have professors that aren’t just here to teach, but to share life experiences [...] has been one of the most rewarding experiences as a student.” Alethia believes that this level of involvement is “the most important part that helps make students succeed.”

With graduation only a week away, Aletheia has secured a job at an investment bank in Dallas, TX, where she anticipates growing her own network of connections and gaining more experience in the finance field.
