One of the core values of University of the Ozarks is “the service of all of creation,” and that driving principle was on full display during a recent mission trip to El Salvador by the student organization Rotaract.
Dr. Thomas "Tom" Jones, ambassador-at-large for Habitat for Humanity International, will speak at University of the Ozarks at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, as part of the University's Walton Arts & Ideas Series.
Volunteerism – helping others – is a key component of education at Ozarks. A handful of early rising students recently helped one of their own by donating their hours in a Habitat for Humanity Saturday work project in Ft. Smith, hours which will go toward helping the family of U of O freshman Mollie Palmer get their own home.
Clarksville, Ark. — As Margaret Mead put it, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." For student volunteers from the U of O, a Saturday trip to 505 N. 23rd in Ft. Smith to help build a house through Habitat for Humanity proved just such an opportunity.
