University Theatre to present “Spoon River Anthology”

Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks' Theatre Department will present Edgar Lee Master's play "Spoon River Anthology" at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 14, 15 and 16 in the university's Walton Fine Arts Center.

Directed by U of O Walton Professor of Theatre Pat Farmer, “Spoon River Anthology” examines small town life in Master’s famous collection of blank verse vignettes as the dead in Spoon River Cemetery speak their mind and tell their secrets from the grave. Irony, humor and poignancy combine for an evening of entertainment. Nine actors portray 55 different roles in the play.

The production team includes U of O Theatre professor Bruce B. Brown as scenic designer and technical director, Justin Hughes as lightning designer, Brigitte Bridoux as costume designer, Alisha Nystrom as graphic designer, and Martin Morales as stage manager.

The cast includes Rebecca Arnold, Kalea Bennett, Brigitte Bridoux, Lindsey Humphries, Stephen T. Kennedy, Caleb Patton, David Pluebell, Orville Scott and Kelsi Ward.

The crew includes Hughes as light board operator; Nystrom as sound board operator; Lisa Malcom, Amber Beavers and Tori Rhein as wardrobe crew; Robyn Naden as house manager; Humphries as box office manager; Cameron Testerman and Catalina Ruiz-Salazar as stage crew; and Testerman and Clayton Becker as electrics crew. 

Cost for admission is $8 per person and $6 for senior citizens, and there is limited seating. The play is not appropriate for children under 10. Tickets may be purchased at the box office starting at 6:45 p.m. on the evenings of the performance. For more information, please call 979-1349.
