Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks' Theatre Department will present its first production of the 2009-2010 academic year, "Soccer Moms," at 7:30 p.m., on October 9 and 10, in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

Written by Kathleen Clark, “Soccer Moms” takes place on a crisp October day as three mothers gather to participate in a mother/son soccer game with their 8-year-old boys. Between playing sessions, the three women cheer their sons and teammates, deal with crying children and uncooperative husbands, assess their lives and choices, and discover common ground. Full of humor and action, the play reveals the individuals that have been lumped into a single demographic group.

“Soccer Moms” is the University Theatre’s entry into the annual Kennedy Center American Colleges Theatre Festival. A full staged performance will be presented at the Arkansas Preliminary Festival at Arkansas State University-Beebe in November.

The cast includes Kalea Bennett as Lynn, Rebecca Arnold as Nancy and Kelsi Ward as Alison. Walton Professor of Theatre Pat Farmer is the director, Theatre Professor Bruce B. Brown is the production designer/technical director, Catalina Ruiz-Salazar is the graphic designer, and Phillip T. Perez is the stage manager. The crew includes Lindsey Humphries as assistant stage manager and props crew chief; Houston Hall and Megan Elsinger as properties crew; Justin Hughes as light board operator; Clayton Becker as sound board operator; Jena Moreau, Logan Boone, Jacqueline Jade Jurcik and Brigitte Bridoux as wardrobe crew; Stephen Kennedy as stage crew chief; Elisabeth Malcom, Tori Ann, Elsinger, Hall and Andrew Heim as stage crew; Martin Morales, Trey Scott and Heim as electrics crew; Holly McPherson as box office manager; and Angela Butson as house manager.
