Clarksville, Ark. -- The University Theatre will present La Vie Ennui at 7:30 p.m., December 5 and 6, in the Black Box Theatre in the Walton Fine Arts Center on the University of the Ozarks campus.

The production is a combination Senior Honors Project between Kristina Davenport and Leah Short. Tickets for the general public are $10 each and seating is very limited.

La Vie Ennui is set in 1950 in Chez Leplée, a small rundown cabaret in the Montemarte district of Paris. Dominique and Fatiguee are two down-at-the-heels chanteuses, working at Chez Leplée. Henri Leplée, the miserly nightclub owner, insists his two songbirds croon only the songs of their archrival, the famous Edith Piaf, night after night. Bored with this routine, copycat existence, Dominique and Fatiguee, along with their faithful (nonspeaking) pianist Jean-Paul-Pierre, scheme to have their boss “conveniently detained” by the police so that they can finally perform their own material?if only for one night. The result is a charming musical sorbet about life, love and annoying accordion players.

The cast includes Davenport as Dominique Jolie, Short as Fatiguee Fourbu, Robert Frost as John-Paul Pierre, and Martin Morales as Henri Leplée.

Ginny Sain is the director, Bruce B. Brown is technical director, Annie Mitchell is handling scenic and lightning design, Short is the dramaturg, Erin Fuller is stage manager, Davenport is head of costume design, Frost is the musical director, and Jenava Moreau is the graphic designer.
