Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles will open the 2009 season in the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament March 6-7 in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Live stats will be available for all of Ozarks’ games during the two-day cross-over tourney at http://eagles.ozarks.edu/livestats.aspx. The double-header scheduled for Sunday against Sul Ross State will also have live stats.

All of the league’s 14 teams will be in action, playing two cross-divisional games each day. Action gets underway at 10 a.m. both days.

The games do not count toward conference records, only overall and in-region, but bragging rights are at stake. Last season, the East Division defeated the West 19-9.

Four ASC teams enter the tournament nationally ranked in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll. Defending conference champion Louisiana College (6-0) and Texas-Tyler (6-0) are tied at No. 3, East Texas Baptist (9-1) is No. 19 and Mary Hardin-Baylor (4-2) is No. 20.

Louisiana College has won 19 consecutive games at the ASC First Pitch Softball Tournament, with its last loss coming in the 2004 season to Texas Lutheran. Texas-Tyler has won nine straight at the tourney.

NOTES: This is the sixth consecutive year that the ASC First Pitch Softball Tournament has been held in Farmers Branch, Texas. . . . A complete tournament schedule, each day’s results and a photo galley will be available on the conference’s website, www.ASCsports.org. . . .
