Lisa Johnson has been named the major gifts officer at University of the Ozarks. Her first day at U of O was July 17.
Johnson has more than seven years of experience in philanthropy and fundraising, including as executive director of foundation & development at College of The Albemarle in North Carolina and as senior development officer at the Presbyterian Children’s Home & Services in Houston, Texas.
At Ozarks, Johnson will work out of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement and will focus on donor research, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship in creating opportunities of philanthropic support for the University through both major gifts and the Ozarks Annual Fund.
“I am delighted to join the University of the Ozarks Advancement team to help raise friends and funds for the University, our students, and programs,” Johnson said. “Having several years’ experience in fundraising and development, I am looking forward to meeting the amazing donors that have supported us in the past, as well as cultivating new donors.”
She served as director of marketing and communications at College of The Albemarle for seven years and was also a development and external relations officer at the college. She also has banking and title experience.
Born in Hackettstown, N.J., Johnson’s family moved to Elizabeth City, N.C., when she was 11. She graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a degree in business administration/management.
“Since then, our family has moved from North Carolina to Houston for my husband’s position with Southeastern Freight Lines,” Johnson said. “And from Houston, we moved to Alma, Arkansas, about two and a half years ago, again for my husband’s position.”
She and her husband, Andy, have two sons, David (22) and Eric (17). They also have a Maltipoo named Biscuit.
Outside of work, Johnson and her family enjoy cruising the streets in their recently purchased, fire-engine red ‘67 Chevelle Super Sport car. “We enjoy going to classic car shows and showing off this amazing vehicle,” she said.
