Northwest Arkansas artist Sigrid Lorfing Goodwin will be the Artist of the Month at University of the Ozarks through Feb. 6.

Goodwin’s exhibit, “Pink Beam” will be featured in the Stephens Gallery. There will be a reception to meet the artist from 5-6 p.m. on Feb. 6, in the gallery.

Goodwin is an artist and educator in Springdale, Ark. Her work has been seen across the state of Arkansas, including the Small Works on Paper travelling exhibition from the Arkansas Department of Heritage, as well as on the cover of the Idle Class.

Goodwin is a museum educator at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark. Before venturing into museum education, she spent five years as a K-12 art teacher. She holds a bachelor’s in art education from Arkansas Tech University. In addition to her own studio practice, she enjoys walking to the library and playing with her cats.

Goodwin said she is inspired “by dreams, glamour, and the life of science fiction author Philip K. Dick.”

“My works use a visual language informed by pop art to explore themes of personal transformation and the intersection of the real and imaginary,” she said. “Fluorescent pink radiates from familiar figures and strangers’ distorted memories. Pink Beam is an invitation to examine the private realms of subconscious fears and desires.”

The exhibit is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the week.
