Eagles Open With Dominating Win

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles scored twice in the first half and two more times in the second half to upend Harding University 4-1 in the season opener.

Harding (0-3-0) attacked the Eagles’ defense and had a pair of missed opportunities early on. But Brandon VanCleave got Ozarks (1-0-0) going when he scored in the 16th minute. Dylan Evans followed in the 34th minute with a goal on a perfect pass from Logan Hornback. Evans took it out of the air and eventually fired it past the goalie. Harding did score in the 54th minute, but the Eagles answered back when Tanner Holman beat his defender down the flank and netted his first collegiate goal. VanCleave received the assist. Philip Johnson added a goal when he headed one in the back of the net off Evans’ corner kick in the 83rd minute.

Overall, Ozarks totaled 10 shots, with Evans, Johnson and Francisco Garza recording two apiece.

Neil Thompson collected his first career win at Ozarks and had four saves.
