Gloria Arcia, Ed.D., has been promoted to executive vice president for finance and administration at University of the Ozarks, President Richard Dunsworth announced this week.
The executive vice president is the second ranking officer of the University, acting for the president in their absence. Arcia has served as vice president for finance and administration since she joined the University in 2019.
“Gloria Arcia is an exemplary professional and exceptional colleague,” Dunsworth said. “Her ability to project manage, while also appreciating the nuances of working primarily with 18 to 22 year-olds allows me to have complete confidence in her decision-making abilities when I am away from campus. I am thankful we have such a strong executive team and together I would proffer they are the strongest I have ever worked with in any environment.”
Arcia not only serves as the University’s chief financial officer, she leads the administrative, finance, information technology, physical plant, auxiliary services and public safety areas. She also led the University’s efforts in the repopulation of campus as the incident commander and chair of the Covid-19 response task force team.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the honor of being promoted to the role of Executive Vice President at Ozarks. It’s a privilege to work alongside such exceptional individuals in this esteemed institution. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I am eagerly looking forward to furthering the success of Ozarks and its students.”
Arcia is a two-time finalist for the Arkansas Business CFO of the Year in Education award. Previously to joining Ozarks, she served Broward College in Pembroke Pines, Fla., as the college’s dean of business affairs for its South Campus and Partnership Centers for two years. She also served as the assistant dean for business and finance at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla., from 2014-17.
Arcia has an associate’s degree from Miami Dade College, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Florida International University and an MBA with a specialization in management from Barry University. She completed an Ed.D. in organizational leadership and learning with a specialization in human resource development from Barry University in 2022.
