The photography minor at the University of the Ozarks introduces students to both the technical and creative aspects of photographic art through hands-on learning, theory, and history. Students gain skills in visual communication, artistic expression, and digital technologies that enhance creative thinking across disciplines. This minor complements a wide range of majors and prepares students for careers in fields such as fine art, commercial photography, advertising, marketing, journalism, communications, theater, and graphic design, while also providing valuable skills applicable to disciplines like biology, health sciences, and business.

ART 2043: Photography I
This course introduces students to the fundamental history, practices and techniques of photography. Areas of emphasis include basic functions of the digital camera, composition, storage and use of photo editing software. -
ART 2443: Photo Editing Techniques
This course provides students with an in-depth study of software utilized in post-production image-based digital work. It focuses on mastering the tools and advanced editing techniques of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to process, retouch, collage, and merge images. Skills learned in this course will provide students with career options in digital photography, editing, graphic design, and marketing fields. Art 2403 Photography 1 Recommended but not required. -
ART 3043: Photography II
Further exploration of digital photography with a focus on developing and understanding intermediate technical skills related to digital images, editing and manipulation. Areas of emphasis include photographic media as used by corporate advertising and other media. Prerequisite: ART 2043 Photography I.
