Finnell Homers Twice In 11-2 Win

Clarksville, Ark.-Robby Finnell homered twice and the Eagles pounded out 17 hits to help dispose of Mid-America Christian University 11-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Lonnie R. Qualls Field.

<#IMAGE:1#>With a 3-1 lead after four, the Eagles (10-8, 0-0) had a big fifth inning scoring six runs on four hits. Brad Broussard reached base on an error by the shortstop, and then went to second on a Jimmy Pannell sacrifice bunt. Cory Briggs then delivered a double to score one run. David Smith reached on an error and scored along with Briggs when John Glenn laid down a perfect bunt and the first basemen mishandled the throw. Todd Koch then homered to give Ozarks a 8-1 lead. Robby Finnell followed with a solo shot to left field to put the game out of reach. In the sixth, Glenn doubled in Smith and Jimmy Pannell to put the game at 11-1. In the second, Glenn recorded a sacrifice RBI, and Finnell hit a solo shot in the next inning to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage. Glenn, Briggs and Smith each had three hits, with Glenn notching 3 RBI and Finnell collecting 2 RBI. It was Finnell’s seventh multi-RBI game of the season. Bruce Cameron went 1-for-5 to extend his current hitting streak to 16 games. The Eagles used six pitchers in the contest. Bill Smith (1-0) received the win. He struck out three in two and one-third innings. Curt Dixon started the game and had four strikeouts in one and two-third innings. The Eagles open American Southwest Conference play this weekend when they travel to Marshall, Texas, to face East Texas Baptist University.
