Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks women's soccer team has been honored with the prestigious Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), it was announced by the organization?s media relations director.
The NSCAA Team Academic Award is presented to those teams with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average for the 2011-2012 academic year. Under Head Coach Bryan Drotar, Ozarks posted a 3.13 team gpa to receive the distinction. It marks the fifth time the women’s soccer program has received the honor. Institutions from NCAA Division I, II and III, and NAIA are eligible for the honor.
The NSCAA annually recognizes college soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 593 women’s college soccer teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.
