The Department of Education announced a further delay to release batches of FAFSA information (ISIRs) to schools until the first half of March.

Visiting Fellow Quinn to lecture at U of O

Clarksville, Ark. --- Robert Quinn, founding director of the Scholars at Risk Network, will speak at University of the Ozarks at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

The lecture is open to the public and there is no cost of admission.

Quinn is at Ozarks for the week of March 9-13 as part of the university’s Visiting Fellowship program. The title of his lecture will be Protecting Freedom of Ideas Around the Globe.

The Scholars at Risk Network (SAR) in a New York University-based network of colleges and universities that promotes academic freedom and defends the human rights of scholars and their communities worldwide. According to the organization’s Web site, scholarsatrisk.nyu.edu, the network is rooted in the principle of academic freedom --- the freedom to pursue scholarship and research without discrimination, censorship intimidation or violence. SAR aims to bring scholars facing severe human rights abuses in their home region to positions at universities, colleges and research centers in any safe country.

Quinn, who founded SAR at the University of Chicago in 1999, is an adjunct professor of law at Fordham Law School. He is the former founding executive director of the Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund. He earned his law degree from Fordham and undergraduate degree from Princeton.
