The Department of Education announced a further delay to release batches of FAFSA information (ISIRs) to schools until the first half of March.

Vasquez wins Earth Day Essay Contest

Clarksville, Ark. Martha Vasquez, a senior marketing and economics major from El Salvador, was named the winner of the Earth Day Essay Contest this week, as announced by Assistant Professor of English Dr. Brian Hardman.

Vasquez’s essay, “The Quest towards a Greener Ozarks,” was picked as the winner out of 18 entries in the fourth-year contest. Vasquez and four other University of the Ozarks students received cash prizes for their essays from sponsor Dr. Wayne Workman, a board of trustee member at Ozarks.

Students participating in the contest were asked to answer the following question in their essays: “What does the University of the Ozarks need to do to improve its energy and environmental policy?” Vasquez’s winning essay discussed the importance of keeping the Ozarks community aware of the efforts by the University’s Environmental Taskforce Committee. She also included that expanded efforts and activities by the Planet Club, among other student organizations, would benefit the Ozarks community.
