Clarksville, Ark.-UT-Tyler turned a five-point lead into a 21-point lead during an eight minute stretch in the second half as the Lady Eagles suffered a 88-74 loss to the Patriots in American Southwest Conference Saturday.
Ozarks (5-12, 3-9) kept things close in the first half getting points from nine different players and hitting all ten of their free throws. Lacey Phillips three-point play tied the game 28-28 with 6:15 left. The Patriots (10-7, 7-5) then reeled off a 15-8 run to close out the half with a 43-36 lead.
At the 14:18 mark of the second half, Phillips hit a pair of free throws to narrow the gap to 51-46, but the Patriots had a double-digit lead two minutes later and sustained that that advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Phillips scored 15 points to lead Ozarks. April Young added 14 and Ashley Teague had 11. The freshman trio went a combined 11-of-20 from the field.
Ozarks will travel to Clinton, Mississippi, to face Mississippi College January 29.
