University of the Ozarks Chorus begins Spring Tour

Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks Chorus and music ensembles will perform in eight churches in three states from March 17-24 as part of their Spring Tour 2006.

U of O Assistant Professor of Music Dr. G. Mikael Lindstrom will direct the University Chorus, University Handbell Ringers, a Select Mixed Ensemble and a Women’s Ensemble during their tour of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Jeanine Myers, an adjunct professor of math at Ozarks, is serving as pianist and rehearsal accompanist during the tour. Among the selections the groups are expected to perform are “Come, Christians, Join to Sing,” by Stan Pethel; “Blessed is He,” by Dave and Jean Perry; “The Star Spangled Banner,” by Frank Sarent; “Morning has Broken,” by Douglas E. Wagner; “Lift Thine Eyes to the Mountains,” by F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy; and “Simple Gift,” by A. Copland. The tour performances include: ? Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith, Ark., at 7 p.m., Friday, March 17. ? John Knox Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Okla., at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 18. ? First Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Okla., at 11 a.m., Sunday, March 19. ? Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, Okla., at 5 p.m., Sunday March 19. ? First Presbyterian Church in Ardmore, Okla., at 7 p.m., Monday, March 20. ? Northpark Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 21. ? First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, Texas, at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 23. ? Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines in Hot Springs Village, Ark., at 3 p.m., Friday, March 24.
