Clarksville, Ark. --- The State of Arkansas will hold its sales tax holiday during the first weekend in August, and the Ozarks bookstore will be open to allow its customers to take advantage of the Arkansas Tax Free Weekend.

During the tax free weekend, shoppers can purchase clothing and certain school supplies and instructional materials free of state and local sales or use tax. School supplies include instruction items and items that students commonly use in class such as notebooks, paper, pencils, markers, rulers, protractors and calculators. Textbooks and textbook rentals are included in the list of items that are exempt from tax, however, computers are not eligible for the tax break.

Arkansas residents may also purchase items on-line tax free during the tax holiday. Items purchased on the bookstore site from 12:01 a.m. on August 4 through 11:59 p.m. on August 5 will be eligible for the tax exemption. Credit cards will be charged at the time of the purchase.

An itemized list of items that may be purchased tax free can be found on the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration website at http://www.dfa.arkansas.gov/offices/exciseTax/salesanduse/Documents/holidayItemized.pdf.

The bookstore, located in the lower level of Seay Student Center, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 and from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.  For those who wish to shop on-line, the bookstore website is located at http://www.neebo.com/university-of-the-ozarks.
