Two long-time administrators at University of the Ozarks have recently accepted positions at other universities.
Dr. Elissa Heil has been named the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Penn. Also, Sherrie Arey has accepted the position of vice president for student development at University of Great Falls in Montana.
Heil taught English and Spanish at Ozarks since 1992. She also served the University as associate academic dean, director of the Walton Arts & Ideas Series and director of the Academic Center for Excellence. She will serve as the chief academic officer at Wilson College, a private liberal arts institution.
Arey has worked at Ozarks since 1995 and served as dean of residential and campus life since 2002. She will supervise campus ministry, food service, career service, student life, residential life, campus security and music and performing arts at UGF, a private, Catholic-affiliated college.
"I am amazed how similar University of the Ozarks and University of Great Falls are; I was comfortable on campus immediately," Arey said. "Ozarks has always been more than a place to work for me, it has been my home and the campus community my family. Because of Ozarks I feel ready to take this next big step in my life and career. I know over my 19 years my favorite memories will be working and learning from all the wonderful students who I have been blessed to serve as dean. I wish the campus and the new administration all the best and I look forward to returning in the future to an even better Ozarks.
