U of O to hold Fall 2008 Commencement on Dec. 17

Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks will holds its Fall 2008 Commencement at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, in Munger Chapel.

Ester silver-parker" align=Thirty-one students are expected to receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremony. There will be a President’s Reception in Walker Hall immediately following the commencement.

The commencement speaker will be Esther Silver-Parker, senior vice president of corporate affairs at Walmart Stores, Inc. She is charged with the strategic planning and execution of Walmart’s stakeholder management efforts, both in the U.S. and in countries around the world, where Walmart does business. In addition, she focuses on issues that impact emerging markets, small businesses and entrepreneurs. Prior to this position, she served as senior vice president of diversity relations and had responsibility for strengthening Walmart’s relationships with diversity leaders and leadership organizations. Prior to joining Walmart, Silver-Parker served as vice president of corporate affairs and president of the AT&T Foundation for AT&T. She also directed AT&T’s national constituency relations, issues management and corporate social responsibility programs.

Silver-Parker was the recipient of the Walmart Trailblazer Award for her work in diversity and the Catherine Cleary Award, the highest leadership honor AT&T gives to a female employee.
