U of O Commencement scheduled for May 12

Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks will confer bachelor degrees to 102 graduating seniors during its 2012 Commencement ceremony, scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, on the campus mall.

The keynote Commencement speaker will be Dr. Brent Thomas, a professor of biology at Emporia State University and a 1991 Ozarks graduate. Thomas, a native of Denning, Ark., earned his master’s degree from Missouri State University and his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University. He has taught biology at Emporia State since 2006. Previously he taught at University of South Carolina Upstate from 1999 to 2006.

A Baccalaureate Service in Munger Chapel will begin the day’s activities at 9 a.m. University Chaplain Rev. Nancy Benson-Nicol will provide the proclamation during the service.
