Texas Lutheran Powers Past Ozarks

Clarksville, Ark.-No. 14 Texas Lutheran University handed the Eagles a pair of losses on Saturday afternoon in Seguin, Texas.

Ozarks (5-5, 0-0) could not hold onto the lead in game one as they dropped a 12-8 decision, and then fell 18-7 in the second game of the double-header. In game one, the Eagles scored eight runs in the fourth to take a 8-5 lead. John Glenn notched two RBI in the frame on a double, and Robby Finnell cranked out a three-run home run to put Ozarks in front. However, the Bulldogs (10-0, 0-0) rallied with two outs and put five runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to take control of the game. Bruce Cameron paced Ozarks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run. Finnell (1-1) took the loss. Texas Lutheran pounded out 19 hits and Ozarks committed seven errors as the Bulldogs took a 18-7 victory in game two. Only five of the Bulldog runs were earned. Ahead 6-3 after three innings of play, Texas Lutheran exploded for seven runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to hold a 17-3 advantage. Jimmy Pannell hit a solo shot in the second, and Cameron went yard in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 3-3. Pannell cranked out his second homer of the contest in the seventh, this time knocking in Tim Driedric, who reached base after being hit by a pitch. Pannell finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs. Freddy Flores went 2-for-3. Todd Koch (1-1) suffered the loss. Koch struck out three. Ozarks will host Concordia-Austin on March 2 and March 3.
