Clarksville, Ark.-The Texas-Dallas women turned a 45-39 lead with 10:25 left in the game into a 71-49 victory over the Lady Eagles in American Southwest Conference play Thursday night.
Texas-Dallas (16-4, 12-3 ASC) finished the final ten minutes of the game on a 26-10 run to out score the Lady Eagles 37-21 in the second half. Ozarks (10-10, 6-9 ASC) played well in the first half, hitting 50 percent of their shots, and held the lead for about 15 minutes. Ashley Berry fueled Ozarks with 11 first half points. Berry’s layup at the 10:49 mark gave the Lady Eagles a 17-12 advantage. Berry completed a three-point play with 7:11 left to increase the Lady Eagles’ lead to 24-18, but the Comets went on a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to take the lead for good.
Allison Villines buried a three-pointer with 14:14 remaining in the second half to trim the deficit to 38-35. Ozarks remained close for the next five minutes, but a Texas-Dallas eventually built a double-digit advantage. A three-pointer at the 9:09 mark jumpstarted a 20-8 run for the Comets.
Sabrina Goddard paced Ozarks with 14 points and nine rebounds. Berry finished with 12 points.
Ozarks will travel to Marshall, Texas, to face East Texas Baptist University February 3.
