Clarksville, Ark.-A swarming McMurry University defense limited the Lady Eagles to just 13 field goals and a 23 percent shooting clip in a 61-46 win in American Southwest Conference play Thursday night.
Ozarks (3-3, 1-2 ASC) struggled all night from the floor, hitting just 11 percent of their shots through the first 15 minutes of the game, and just 23 percent for the game. The War Hawks (4-1, 3-0 ASC) cruised to a 31-17 lead at the 4:47 mark of the first half and held a 40-26 advantage at halftime. Ozarks made things close by hitting 15-of-21 from the free throw line in the first half.
The Lady Eagles shooting struggles continued in the second half, scoring just four points in the first ten minutes. McMurry built a 56-32 lead with 8:55 left and Ozarks never trimmed it below 15 points in the second half.
April Young led Ozarks with 13 points. Lacey Phillips added 11 points. Sabrina Goddard had 10 rebounds.
Ozarks will host Hardin-Simmons University December 3.
