Clarksville, Ark. ? Six student ambassadors from the Student Foundation Board (SFB) at the University of the Ozarks participated in the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) Conference on January 30.
The conference served as an outlet for universities in Arkansas to share and elaborate on ideas about improving the new student orientation experience. The SFB members that were in attendance include: SFB President Emma Bottorff, SFB Vice President Keen Seong Liew, Pietro Brol, Mindy Choo, Sarah Reeves, and Brett Wood.
“It really was a fun and interesting conference,” said Liew. “I definitely learned a whole lot more about staff training and how it is done in other schools, which we can implement [in Freshman Orientation].”
The group was recognized by the organizer and other participating universities as the “Most Spirited Team” at the conference. When asked what the reason for Ozarks being recognized for such an award, Brol said, “it was this chemistry of hard work, long hours of work, and love for our school that we demonstrated [at the conference] and people were able to see.”
SFB provides leadership experience for its members that will enhance their education and prepare them to be responsible alumni of the University of the Ozarks. SFB members are active during Freshman Orientation, Alumni Weekend, Board Weekend, and various other events throughout the year.
