Students in the University of the Ozarks' art program will present their annual Student Art Exhibit through April 19 in the Stephens Gallery.

There will be a reception to meet the artists from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, in the gallery, which is located in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

The Student Art Exhibit 2016 features an inspiring menagerie of artworks collected from 12 different students artists?Obed Gonzalez, Ana Sofia Camargo, Tonya Palmer, Angie Brooks, Flynn Hudson, Stephanie Payton, Aubree Sisson, Carmen Castorena, Azalia Molina, Tonya Palmer, Samuel Binns, Jacey Coleman, and Patrick Brown.

"This annual exhibit is a fantastic way for the art program to highlight the artworks that are created during the past year," said U of O Professor of Art Tammy Harrington. "A student, Patrick Brown, was the exhibition coordinator again this year and he was in charge of soliciting artworks from the students, leading a group of students in the installation of the artworks, getting the labels prepared, and setting up the lighting. This is a great experience for the students. It exposes the students to the work that is needed to put an art exhibition together, a great way to practice professional development."

Brown said the exhibit "is a collection that ranges from various figurative works to ethereal sculptures evocative of primordial dreams. The University of the Ozarks has a student body rich in creativity and ability; this exhibit is the perfect microcosm of our eclectic campus culture."
