Sports Information Department Earns Media Guide Awards

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks Sports Information Department has been honored for excellence in the annual publications contest conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Ozarks’ Sports Information Office received four awards in CoSIDA’s media guide contest for the 2008-2009 athletic year. The women’s soccer media guide placed second in the “Division C” category and its cover also earned an award as judges voted it “Best In The Nation”. The baseball media guide ranked second in the nation while the softball guide finished third. The media guides were written and designed by Sports Information Director Josh Peppas. Assistant Sports Information Director Daniel Gallegos and student assistant Emalee Pearson served as assistant editors. Ozarks was the only university in the American Southwest Conference to receive honors from CoSIDA. University of Arkansas was the only other state institution to receive recognition in the contest.

The guides were judged in the competition’s "Division C" category, which includes media guides from NCAA Division III and NAIA member schools as well as junior colleges from across the United States.

Ozarks has earned a combined seven awards from CoSIDA the past two years.
